Hello from MILANO

I am at Jeffs office and have a minute before we go to the bank to get me on the account. We still are without internet at the apartment, but everything that flew with us has a home and we settling in nicely. We should get our "stuff" mid July. We have taken the company up on the offer of a rental car for 40 days. Most of the furniture and electronics stores are beyond train stops, and we would like to buy a TV and some sort of furniture for the 2nd bedroom, which is now serving as my laundry room. I may have mentioned the extra room is long and narrow with 2 doors on opposite walls, so configuring sleeping for 2 will be a trick, but we will figure it out. In the mean time I have a room to dry clothes, hang them to iron, and iron! my job here is to keep Jeff in clean clothes, ironed shirts, and maybe food. I have no problem buying groceries, but the meat is very different, and there is no outside grill!!!! Until later, my love and kisses to all.

I'm here!!

Hello from Milan. I'm in Jeff's office using his computer as we are still in temporary living space. Our temporary home is Embassy suite meets cabin in the woods. You have a kitchen, refrigerator, and bed, bath and living room, but it's no frills, no AC, no shower, and only CNN and BBC. It stays pretty cool, especially with the fan we purchased the first night I was here, but the washer takes 2 hours, the clothes dry on the line, and the party starts outside our window at 10PM. Hopefully we'll be out by Saturday, but this is Italy and who knows! I have successfully taken solo journeys on the subway and to the grocery store. Jefff and I spent the weekend walking, and have pictures, but need to be using our own computer to start that. My love anf hugs to everyone, whereever you are!!

Janet has arrived

After a few hours of delay at the newark airport, Janet arrived in Milan on June 13. after 27 hours, she is still slightly suffering from jet lag. we will be going to inspect the apartment that we are contracting to rent at 5:oo PM today June 14. Currently she has not access to her gmail or to this blog. She will occassionally get access through a "hotspot" or I will print emails for her and she can read them in the evenings. this should be a temporary situation.

Our Italy mobile phone numbers are:
Janet 011-39-320-851-4719
Jeff 011-39-320-852-2331
Please remember that these are international calls and will cost you an additional connect fee and a per minute charge. AND... we are 7 hours ahead of US Central time zone, so if you call us after dinner, you will be waking us up.

I will post more tomorrow or Saturday. Until then we send our best from Italy. Hope to hear from all of you soon. (We should be posting some pictures in the near future, so stay tuned.)

Count down to Tuesday

Guess what? I'm moving to Milan!! OK already...I'm getting excited. Tricia and I took a road trip to Austin for the wedding of one of my girl scouts, and Liz joined us on Saturday for Juli Todd's dance recital. Tricia was in the wedding party so I dropped her off with the bride on Thursday and caught up with her at the wedding on Friday. The wedding was outside in the garden in the 93 degree heat. Thankfully the reception was in a refurbished barn that was airconditioned. The food was 100%USDA certified organic, and the paper cups compostable. That's Austin for you. Thursday found we driving to Leander and spending the nights with my dear friend Deb. Saturday was dance, and after a late dinner Tricia and I headed home. Got in at midnight. Now to tidy up, pack up and finish up as much as I can in the next day and a half. I'll be having a going away supper with my daughters Monday night and my flight leaves at 10:45 AM on Tuesday.
